Since graduating from college, I've been applying for a lot of jobs. Besides continuously adapting and refining my resumes and cover letters, I have also been reviewing any other resumes I can get my hands on to see how mine compares to others of the genre. Resumes and (oft-neglected) cover letters are archetypes of business writing, and in my opinion one of the hardest to do really well. The best do more with less, and they buck conformity through efficient (but subtle) design/typography and keen word choice that denotes what you've done while connoting the kind of person that you are. This is a work-in-progress list of under-utilized, but-oh-so descriptive and potent words that jump from the page (and believe me, after reading many resumes and cover letters, when you encounter a "steadfast" or a "perceptive", not only do the words jump off the page they seem almost luxurious to the eye). Please feel free to comment/suggest more! I'll add them!
